Scooby is an English Springer Spaniel,
the kind of dog you see in old
British hunting portraits.
14 Mile Island is an island on Lake
George in upstate New York. We have a summer house there, and it's basically
doggy heaven.

by trees, but in the middle of the picture)
There she is on her cot... or rather,
my cot...
on the island for which she was
named. For the record, I slept on the floor.
Here she is showing off her designer
bandana.
There's another bandana.... note
the creepy eyes.
That's not just in the picture,
it happens. A lot.
The furniture used to be forbidden,
until we snuck into the house once and discovered that she had been using
it all along... just not when we were home. Since then, pretty much
anything goes.
Well, Dr. Freud, I'd say it all started when I was a puppy.
She's as good a swimmer as she
is a runner... which is pretty darn good.
Since we don't hunt with our hunting
dog, we play with tennis balls a lot.
My Uncle once watched us toss the
ball into the lake for about an hour, and then he asked, "Doesn't she ever
get tired?" We replied, "We don't know, we've only had her for a year."
Her record is about 6 hours, and even then it was the HUMAN that got tired.
Out of curiosity, we once had my
brother jump into the lake with a tennis ball in his mouth. She followed
him, stuck her claws onto his chest,
and tried to pry it out.
Not kidding.
Scooby Doo, the best dog ever, I officially miss you.
